School Excursions at Mystery Craters

Discover. Question. Explore.

Bring curiosity to life at Bundaberg’s Greatest Mystery. Plan a memorable school excursion to Mystery Craters in South Kolan, approximately 25 minutes from Bundaberg.

Experience the Wonder.

A learning experience beyond the classroom

At Mystery Craters, students can observe 35 unusual crater formations and investigate a fascinating question: how did they form? Their origins remain uncertain, making this an engaging setting for observation, discussion and evidence-based thinking. Students can explore geological interpretations while distinguishing scientific evidence from imaginative theories.

Explore the Earth Room

Extend the discovery with the Earth Room, where rocks, minerals, crystals and fossils can spark conversations about the natural world, geological time and scientific curiosity. Ask our team which experiences and activities are available for your students.

Learning opportunities

  • Observe unusual natural features and record questions.
  • Discuss evidence, hypotheses and the limits of what is known.
  • Explore rocks, minerals and Earth science concepts.
  • Practise curiosity, critical thinking and respectful discussion.

Activities can be discussed with our team according to year level, group size and learning interests. Teachers remain responsible for their own curriculum planning and excursion risk assessment.
